Video link – Washoe Students Learn Video Game Design.
Sixteen Washoe County students are spending this week learning not just how to play vide games, but how to design them. It is part of the district’s Community Education program, and for once, the students have no complaints about summer school… On Thursday the class hosted guest lecturer Ryan Cullins from local design company 3G Studios. He said if the kids like the taste of game design that they’re getting in this class, then they could really have a future in the industry.”

I wish summer school was like this when I was in school.  Better still, it would be great if they had classes like this during the school year!

About Gaming and Education

Through my research, I have found that games are a powerful tool for learning for players of all ages. Last year I earned my doctorate in Educational Leadership at Azusa Pacific University. My dissertation was entitled - Higher Order Thinking Skills in Digital Games. I have presented my research at the annual convention of the California Educational Research Association. In addition to teaching, I assist other researchers who are working in the field of games and Learning.

  1. I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me
to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme?
    Exceptional work!
